Every now and then you may need to block certain third parties from accessing your sites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for example, and generate fake visits and site traffic. Additionally, there are spammers who leave links to questionable websites as comments to blog articles. Such things could drastically undermine your hard work, because no one likes to visit an Internet site with countless fake comments, plus the increased site traffic from both spammers and bots may create high load on the web server where your Internet site is hosted, which may result in the site not working properly. Among the most effective solutions in such a case is to block the IPs which generate the fake traffic, as a way to ensure that the visits to your site are real.

IP Blocking in Cloud Web Hosting

If you have a cloud web hosting account with our company and you would like to block one or a number of IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that's integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a very simple interface, you can stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it takes to complete that is to log within to your Control Panel, to check out the IP Blocking section, to choose a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You shall not need to do anything challenging if you want to block a whole network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed within the exact same section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with only a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account with us and you wish to block one or a few IP addresses sooner or later, you can benefit from the easy-to-use blocking tool, that we've supplied with our in-house built Hepsia hosting CP. With only several mouse clicks, you will be able to block individual IPs or entire ranges, if necessary. All you will need to do is pick out any of your domains or subdomains from a drop-down menu, choose if the blocking should be valid for the root folder or for a subfolder that's part of the site, and then type in the IP address that you would like to block. For an IP range, you simply need to omit the last octet or the last two octets of the address depending on the size of the network that you want to block. All the addresses which you have restricted will be listed inside the very same section and if you would like to whitelist any of them, you will be able to do it with just a mouse click whenever you want.
